Frequently Asked Questions
What Is The Difference Between The SAT And ACT?
The biggest difference between the SAT and ACT is the pacing of the test. The ACT is a faster-paced assessment test that asks students to solve straight-forward questions quickly. The SAT is a slower-paced reasoning tests that asks students to solve more complex questions.
In general, students who read and work quickly are more comfortable with the pacing of the ACT; students who are slower readers or processors may never be able to keep up with the pace of the ACT no matter how much they prep. As a result, slower readers or students who like to have time to carefully think and work through the steps of each question usually feel more at home on the SAT.
You can learn about more SAT vs. ACT from our SAT vs. ACT 1-Pager on our Free Resources Page.
When Are Study Halls Scheduled?
The exact day and time for study halls varies throughout the year. In general, we schedule study hall times when most students will not have conflicts. For example, during the school year, study halls are often late in the evening on a weeknight from 7-8pm or on a Sunday evening after 5pm. During the summer, study halls are scheduled late in the evening on weeknights. For the upcoming study hall schedule, please inquire with us.
What If I Cannot Attend Study Hall?
If a student has conflicts with scheduled study halls, he or she is still welcome to ask us questions via email or text. Students are also welcome to add on private tutoring sessions at any point if they have lots of content that they want to review that cannot be covered in study hall.
What Type Of Student Is The Online Course + Custom Study PLan Best For?
Self-motivated students who can follow their study guides and keep themselves accountable to complete their assignment each week. When used properly, the online courses, study guide, and study halls give students a fantastic SAT/ACT Prep experience that is very similar to private tutoring (only at a much lower price point). However, if your student is not a strong self-studier or cannot learn as effectively from an online program, private tutoring or our group classes may be a better option.
How Do Practice Tests Work?
Practice tests are self-proctored at home. We provide the practice tests along with scantron sheets and self-timing sheets. We do not offer remote proctoring because, well, we believe it is completely unnecessary. Our students are busy and scattered across the country and across the world. We trust that they can self-time their practice tests at home.
What Do You Use For SAT/ACT Prep Materials?
The best materials are critical to the best prep. We do not love anything else out there, so we write all of our own materials. We have published the an SAT Math Book and are working on the an ACT Math Book as well. For the other sections of the tests, we have our own custom-written ACT and SAT notebooks that cover the topics, strategies, and test-taking tips that students will need to learn for success on test day.
All materials are included in the Online Courses with the exception of the PrepPros Complete Guide to SAT Math, which must be purchased on Amazon.
How Do We Get The SAT/ACT Prep Materials?
All materials will be mailed to your home before the first class. For students in the United States, there is no additional cost. For students outside of the United States, materials can be shipped for an additional fee or PDF versions of the materials can be provided. The only exception is the PrepPros Complete Guide to SAT Math, which will be purchased on Amazon.
